Research seminar: Florencia Luna – Visiting Professor

Florencia Luna visited Jagiellonian University on July 28 and 29, 2021. On July 28, Professor Luna gave a seminar about vulnerability and her proposal of layers, a new approach. After the seminar, Professor Luna answered questions, and participated in a debate about specific situations and practical issues among the participants.

On July 29, Florencia Luna and some REMEDY team members initiated a joint project on bioethical aspects in gene therapy in humans, which will continue throughout the year.

Dr Florencia Luna is Director of the Program of bioethics at FLACSO (Latin American University of Social Sciences); Principal Researcher at CONICET (National Scientific and Technological Research Council in Argentina); and director of Fogarty training on research ethics. From 2003 to 2005, Dr Luna was President of the International Association of Bioethics (IAB) and in 2006 won the Guggenheim Foundation Fellow award. Currently, she is working on global justice and equitable distribution of COVID-19 vaccines.
